Terms of Use
Last updated 3 November 2026
These terms are between you and Cosmin Ghinea, who runs Voal. By using Voal, you agree to them.
The service
Voal is an end-to-end encrypted messenger for iPhone. You need to be at least 16 to use it.
Plans and payment
- Reading and receiving are free. Sending needs a subscription or a Lifetime purchase.
- Apple handles payment through your Apple Account. A subscription renews automatically unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the period ends, in your Apple Account settings.
- Refunds come from Apple, under Apple's rules.
- Lifetime means for as long as Voal runs.
Your responsibilities
- Don't use Voal to break the law, or to harass, threaten or harm anyone.
- Don't attack the service, or try to overload it.
- Your keys and messages exist only on your phone. If you lose your phone or delete the app, they can't be recovered.
Availability
Voal is run by one person on a small number of servers. We work to keep it running, but it can go down, and messages waiting for more than 30 days are deleted. We may change or end the service. If we end it, we'll say so as early as we can.
No guarantee
Voal is provided as it is. It hasn't had an independent security audit, and no software is free of faults. Don't rely on it if your safety depends on it. Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer law that can't be limited, or liability that can't legally be excluded.
Apple
These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple isn't responsible for Voal or for support, and it may enforce these terms as a third-party beneficiary.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of Romania, without taking away protections you have where you live.
